Evan Combs



Bio


Evan’s musical interest began at the age of five when he received an electronic keyboard on Christmas from Santa. From there he taught himself piano, harmonica, guitar, and electric bass. Percussion is Evan’s main instrument which he studied with Anthony Romeo while attending Lindenhurst Senior High School in New York. He was a part of the High School's band, orchestra, choir, musicals, and part of the competitive marching band for 6 years. After graduating high school Evan started his undergraduate studies in Music at Queen College where he studied percussion with John Singer, Michael Lipsey, and Matthew Ward. While attending Queens College Evan worked with competitive marching bands on Long Island where he instructed and composed drum scores for competition. After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree, he is now in his second year attending the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD for a Master’s Degree in Computer Music Composition studying with McGregor Boyle and Geoffrey Wright. His compositions have been performed at various high schools, universities, and the national SEAMUS conference in 2011. In addition to composing, Evan is the founder and original director of N SEME (National Student Electronic Music Event), as well as the recipient of the Johns Hopkins Tech Fellowship Grant (2011) to complete web resources as an aid to incoming students unfamiliar with studio hardware and software.
